The sanctum of Gavi Gangadareshwara Temple has a tall Shivalinga. You can enter the temple through three paths, all cave paths. If you can visit the temple on January 14th, Makar Sankranti you can witnesss a wonderful phenomenon. On that day a ray of sunlight passes through the temple touching in a rhythmic manner Nandi, the mount of Lord Shiva and the Shivalinga. This happens between 5pm to 5:30 pm.
