The Seshadri Memorial Hall, situated in Cubbon Park at Bangalore is an old red building with pediments constructed for immortalizing the famous Dewan of Mysore, Sir Seshadri Iyer (Service period: 1883-1901). In 1913 the statue of this renowned person was erected in front of the Seshadri Memorial Hall in a pretty rose garden, since then being a familiar sight along the road down the Hudson Circle in Bangalore. This building of Seshadri Memorial Hall also houses the state central library which was opened in 1915. In 2000, this well known library based at the Seshadri Memorial Hall won the Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation Award for being the best state central library of India.
