If the suburban region of Basavanagudi, in the vibrant city of Bangalore we have the Indian Institute of World Culture. The institute was founded with the efforts of its President anf founder Shri B.P. Wadia and his wife Smt. Sophia Wadia and the organization of founded in August 1945. The primary aim that the two founders nurtured when they conceived of the project is to bring about a cosmopolitan flavor to the feelings of the people belonging to the various countries. Universal Brotherhood is the main mantra of this organization while the law of Karma propels the working of the organization. The aim of the Indian Institute of World Culture is to spread this essence of fraternity to people irrespective of their age, caste, sex, breed or race. Shri. B. P. Wadia was of the opinion that the primary aim of this institution is to bring to all the "those nuggets of knowledge which make a man more healthy in body, more wealthy in mind, more noble in heart, more self-sacrificing in spirit." The institute never aimed at becoming the home for the scholars exclusively but for the common people where they can be easily made to realize the factors that help is developing a more humanitarian world at large. In order to make these dreams to reality the organization regularly organizes for delivering lectures, which pertain to contemporary issues. Besides these there are also cultural programs which are organized, wherein we find musical and dace programs. The lectures that are delivered by eminent people are also made available imprint under the title "Transactions of the Institute".
At the beginning of each month the "Bulletin of the Institute" is also made available for ready reference. The institute is equipped with a library which has over 40, 000 books pertaining to different topics. There is a separate Children's Library also which particularly cater to the likes and dislikes of the younger genertations. Besides these there is also a Magazine Section where over 400 periodicals are received each day.
